SECRET GALLERY AT THE 505

ART GALLERY INSTALLATION

FEBRUARY - MARCH 2019

Secret Gallery launched its program in early 2019 by taking residency in the vacant commercial space of 505 Central in Downtown Albuquerque, NM. Thanks to the support received from the City if Albuquerque, Secret Gallery was able to transform the unused space into a temporary art gallery and retail space representing select Chicanx/Latinx artist and small businesses from the community. The art gallery installation included a designated space for art exhibitions, a retail space for artists, an indoor mural and a community photography installation.

Operating as a community space with bi-weekly events and weekly business hours, Secret Gallery utilized the space as a creative hub to host creatives in a space that is accessible and welcoming to all of the surrounding community. Through Secret Gallery’s partnership with ABQ Artwalk, the program used its residency at 505 Central to launch into a project-based program, through a series of follow up art installations, exhibitions and community events.
